Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about Chiropractic treatments.

During your first visit, a detailed case history will be taken in order to assess your condition. An examination will be performed including specific neurological and orthopaedic tests as necessary.

If necessary, imaging studies such as x-rays or MRI may be requested to evaluate the underlying cause of a condition.

Following the examination, an individual course of care will be outlined to you, tailored your own needs and activities.

All consultations are strictly confidential.

To book your first chiropractic appointment with us, or to find out more, please contact Kingsbridge Chiropractic Clinic.

Your initial consultation will take around 45 minutes to 1 hour, including a report of findings and your first treatment. After that, treatments are normally between 15--20 minutes each. Each session is tailored to your specific needs and time requirements.

By law, all chiropractors in the UK must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council. They ensure that chiropractors have the necessary qualifications, practise according to the Chiropractic Code of Conduct and maintain their knowledge through continuing professional development.

As a treatment, chiropractic is very safe. Treatment involves gentle, specific spinal manipulation to allow joints that are stiff to begin moving properly. Other techniques are also used where appropriate.

Chiropractors are neuro-musculoskeletal specialists, trained as primary healthcare practitioners which means that each patient will receive the appropriate care or referrals as necessary.

Chiropractic treatment is generally painless. Occasionally there may be some discomfort, particularly in cases of acute muscle spasm, but this is usually short-lived – just like going to the gym after a long period of inactivity. Your chiropractor will always use the most appropriate technique to minimise any discomfort, and give advice on how to help yourself at home.

Chiropractic treatment is suitable for all ages. Just as adults get aches and pains, so do children, and many parents choose to bring along their children for a check-up every now and then.

Children are very welcome in our clinics. To book an appointment, or for more information, please contact us

Yes. Back and pelvic pain is no stranger during pregnancy, and chiropractic care can often help with this. Many mums ask for regular check-ups during the pregnancy to help make sure their spine and pelvis are in the best possible condition before going into labour. Chiropractic can also help after childbirth, with advice and exercises to help return the spine to normal.
